Phoebe Wolfe is an Australian writer and director interested in how people perform composure, protect love and search for meaning within appearances. Her work moves between narrative and fashion film, exploring intimacy, morality and the unspoken codes that shape how we see and are seen. She is drawn to contradiction — beauty and repression, tenderness and control — and to the quiet performances that reveal who we are when no one is watching.

Her debut short, The Overthrow (2023), followed two teenage girls roller-skating from Sydney to Canberra in an emission-less climate protest. The film premiered internationally at the Academy-accredited HollyShorts Film Festival, toured Australia with Flickerfest and won Best Drama at the Australian Women’s Film Festival. Phoebe was named Next Gen Filmmaker of the Year by ELLE Magazine, presented by Swarovski, and completed the Australians in Film Untapped Development Lab under the mentorship of filmmaker Patricia Rozema

She is currently developing her debut feature, The Shining One, with Screen Australia. Alongside her narrative work, Phoebe is one of Australia’s most sought-after fashion filmmakers, directing for CHANEL, RUSSH, ELLE and Vogue Australia. Across all forms, her work seeks emotional precision, quiet rebellion and the grace found in contradiction.
