Phoebe Wolfe is an Australian writer and director drawn to the interior worlds of women — the intimacy, morality, and unspoken codes that shape how we see and are seen. She is currently developing her debut feature, Purity, with Screen Australia.
Her debut short, The Overthrow (2023), announced a bold and tender voice: two teenage girls roller-skating from Sydney to Canberra in a climate protest, the film premiered at the Academy-accredited HollyShorts Film Festival, toured Australia with Flickerfest, and won Best Drama at the Australian Women's Film Festival. She was named Next Gen Filmmaker of the Year by ELLE Magazine and completed the Australians in Film Untapped Development Lab under the mentorship of Patricia Rozema (Mansfield Park, I've Heard the Mermaids Singing).
Alongside her narrative work, Phoebe is one of Australia's most sought-after fashion filmmakers — directing for CHANEL, RUSSH, ELLE and Vogue Australia — a practice that has sharpened her eye for the charged, performative spaces women inhabit.
